Two ways to pay

Every Suntask proposal comes with a financing recommendation. These are the two routes.

How PM Surya Ghar works
  • Recommended for homes up to 3 kW

Bank loan under PM Surya Ghar

    • Collateral-free loan up to ₹2,00,000, tenure up to 10 years.
    • Interest around 7% a year, floating and repo-linked. Bank-published rates currently run 5.75–7.25%; your sanction letter carries the exact rate.
    • You pay about 10% of the system cost upfront; the bank finances the rest.
    • The ₹78,000 subsidy (up to ₹95,000 for MNBY-eligible households) is credited to your bank account after commissioning. Most customers use it to prepay the loan, and the EMI drops by nearly half.
    • Suntask prepares the file, submits it, tracks it, and files the subsidy claim.
  • No lender, no interest

    Pay direct

    • A milestone schedule: 20% on booking · 70% on material delivery · 10% on commissioning.
    • The subsidy is still claimed for you and credits to your account the same way.

  • MNBY-eligible households receive up to ₹17,000 more; on a 3 kW that takes the EMI to about ₹810.
  • Notice the 2 kW and 3 kW rows after subsidy: the larger subsidy on 3 kW pays for most of the third kilowatt.
  • Prefer paying off faster? Choose "Finish early" in the calculator: on a 3 kW, the loan closes in about 4 years 7 months and total interest stays near ₹16,600. A 5-year tenure from the start is about ₹3,300 a month.
  • Systems above 3 kW use the standard bank product: 20% upfront and hypothecation of the solar system. Standard practice, not property collateral.
  • EMIs are reducing-balance calculations, rounded to the nearest ₹10.
  • Prices are ex-GST. GST at the rate on your quote is added to the invoice the bank finances, so the sanctioned loan and EMI sit a little above these.

The EMI versus the bill

EMI versus the bill it replaces.

A 3 kW roof in Rajasthan generates about 360–375 units a month. At typical Jaipur DISCOM domestic tariffs, that is ₹2,400–2,900 of electricity. The EMI is about ₹1,930, lower than the bill from the first month, and about ₹1,010 once the subsidy prepays the loan. The system covers its own instalment and leaves margin.

If most of your bill is already covered by free MNBY units, solar will not pay back quickly. Our survey will tell you that plainly, including when the answer is that you should not buy yet.

Solar for homes

Shops and factories

PM Surya Ghar covers homes only.

For shops and factories we arrange term-loan financing through partner banks, and your accountant will want to look at one more line: accelerated depreciation on solar assets, which can change the payback math.

Factory solar

Off-grid systems receive no central subsidy and no PM Surya Ghar loan. Ask us on WhatsApp about EMI for them. Off-grid solar, in plain words

The loan

Questions about the loan.

Do I need collateral?

Up to ₹2 lakh, no. The loan is collateral-free under the scheme. Above ₹2 lakh, the solar system itself is hypothecated to the bank; your property is not involved.

What if the bank declines?

We pre-check eligibility before filing, so declines are rare. If it happens, you lose nothing: choose Suntask EMI or the direct-payment schedule, and the subsidy claim proceeds either way.

When does the subsidy arrive, and to whom?

To your own bank account, typically 30–45 days after commissioning, once inspection and the portal redemption are complete. We file it; you track it with us.

Can I prepay the loan?

Yes. Public-sector banks typically allow prepayment of these loans without penalty, and most customers prepay with the subsidy. The calculator shows both options: a lower EMI, or finishing early. Confirm the clause in your sanction letter.

Does the EMI start before the system generates?

Disbursement is timed to installation, and our crews finish a site in a day, so generation and repayment begin nearly together. The first EMI typically falls in the month after disbursement.

Is Suntask the lender?

No. Suntask is a solar EPC company. The bank sanctions the loan and sets the rate and terms; we prepare, file and follow up until money moves.

Will my credit score matter?

Yes, as with any bank loan. A reasonable repayment history helps; we check this in step 1 so you never file an application likely to fail.

Fair print

The bank lends. We run the process.

  • Suntask (Shriarjun Needday Primemart Pvt Ltd) is a solar EPC company, not a bank or NBFC. Loans are sanctioned by the lending bank; approval, rate and terms are the bank's decision.
  • Rates are floating and repo-linked. Figures on this page, including the calculator's defaults, are illustrations at 7% a year (loans up to ₹2 lakh) and 8% above, against bank-published rates of 5.75–7.25% as of July 2026.
  • The subsidy is disbursed by the Government of India to your bank account after commissioning, inspection and portal redemption, subject to scheme rules and timelines.
  • Insurance may be required for systems above 3 kW, per bank norms.
  • Your exact price, rate, EMI and subsidy are printed in your proposal.
