Where the ₹17,000 comes from
Mukhyamantri Nishulk Bijli Yojana gives eligible Rajasthan households 150 free units a month. The state's plan is to move those households onto rooftop solar so the free units come from their own roofs rather than from the DISCOM's purchase bill. The top-up of up to ₹17,000, on top of the central subsidy, is the incentive to make that move.
Who qualifies

The maths for a 1.1 kW plant
The scheme was designed around a plant that covers 150 units a month, which in the scheme's own sizing is about 1.1 kW. The central subsidy is ₹30,000 per kW up to 2 kW, so it is paid pro rata on that size.

Set against the price of a 1.1 kW plant, this is why the state says the plant can come to almost nothing. The exact net figure depends on the price card and is quoted on WhatsApp.

The catches
- One subsidy per connection. If a connection has already drawn a rooftop subsidy, neither the central nor the state amount applies.
- Vendor registration with your DISCOM is a hard requirement; work by an unregistered installer gets nothing.
- The bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded, or both transfers fail quietly.
- The scheme window: the last day to avail the subsidy is 31 March 2027. The PM Surya Ghar page keeps the slabs and the deadline current.
