Sunlight on the array produces direct current, most of it between 9am and 4pm.

A grid-tied inverter converts it to the AC your home runs on and matches the grid's frequency.

Your loads use it first
Whatever is running takes solar first. Only the surplus goes out through the net meter.

A bidirectional meter counts export and import. You pay for the net, and surplus units carry forward.

Rajasthan's net-metering rules let a rooftop plant go up to the sanctioned load of the connection, so a bigger roof is not wasted.

What it does not do
No power in an outage.
A grid-tied inverter shuts down the moment the grid fails, for the safety of the line workers repairing it. Your panels can be in full sun and your house will still be dark. If backup matters to you, the answer is a hybrid system, not a bigger on-grid one.

Three DISCOMs, one set of rules.
JVVNL, AVVNL and JdVVNL all work under the state regulator's net-metering framework. The forms and the inspection are local; the rules are not.

Export credit
Units you export are set off against units you import in each billing cycle. Surplus units carry forward, and any balance left at the end of the financial year is settled under the regulator's net-metering rules.

Sanctioned load first
The plant cannot exceed the sanctioned load on your bill. If you want more, we raise the load with the DISCOM before we file.

DISCOM timelines
Feasibility approval, inspection and meter installation sit with the DISCOM and vary by circle. We quote the current timeline for your sub-division in the proposal rather than a statewide average.

Heat and dust
Rajasthan roofs cross 60°C in May. Inverters go in shade with ventilation clearance; we schedule cleaning to the dust season, and RMS flags a dirty array before the bill does.

Will it work during a power cut?
No. The inverter shuts down when the grid fails so line workers are safe. If that matters, choose hybrid; the same panels, plus a battery and a different inverter.
How much can I export?
As much as the plant makes beyond what you use, within your sanctioned load. Exports offset imports in the same bill; surplus carries forward.
Can I add a battery later?
Yes. Either swap to a hybrid inverter or add an AC-coupled battery unit. If you think you will, tell us at survey and we will leave room for it.
How long does it last?
Panels carry long manufacturer performance warranties; inverters are typically replaced once in the plant's life. Our service plan, renewed yearly, runs for up to 10 years.
What maintenance does it need?
Cleaning through the dust season and an annual inverter check. Five years of service are included, and RMS tells us if anything drifts.
Do shops and offices get the subsidy?
No. PM Surya Ghar is for homes. Businesses claim GST input credit and depreciation instead, and skip the subsidy paperwork, which makes their installs the fastest we do.
